Modular Clinic in Haiti

My task was to design a clinic using four to eight shipping containers. I had to research used versus new shipping containers and compare costs of insulating and painting the containers. In the second stage of my design, I had to review clinic designs and decide how to create my own layout focusing on efficient patient flow. Within my design I had to provide practical solutions to challenges such as lack of running water, electricity, sewage or flooding. My biggest challenge within the design process was combining sustainable features into the shipping container clinic design while keeping construction costs within budget. I solved it by exploring cost-effective building materials and renewable energy solutions, which included solar panels. What I learned about the creative process was that sustainable design can be both environmentally responsible and cost-effective.
The following two images are container plans of waiting area + reception and container with triage, two examination room, and a pediatric room with colorful walls and toys, so that kids won't get scared of doctors and will feel safer.
